Copyright covers the design file, not a purely functional printed object, so utilitarian parts have thin protection in most places. The flags only bite when you sell prints or share a modified file. Crediting the designer when you post a make is the community norm regardless.
Sources and the reasoning behind this list: the Brim research report of 16 September 2026. One structural change worth knowing: MyMiniFactory bought Thingiverse in February 2026, so Thingiverse, MyMiniFactory, Scan the World and YouMagine now share an owner.
